“ This crackdown by the State government is totally warranted as it challenges the perception that graffiti is a trivial misdemeanour, however if there is no increase in surveillance through increased police numbers then how will they catch them with their graffiti equipment ?
We need a designated police unit to safeguard our community from this vandalism after all it’s the government of the day that decides police numbers”
Mr Dabbagh ‘s organisation was established after years of unaddressed graffiti vandalism in his local area of Wattle Grove , Hammondville and Holsworthy . LAGG is a proactive community group that liases with local police, residents and council to ensure increased surveillance of neighbourhoods and an immediate response to removing graffiti.
LAGG’s website www.lagg.org.au can provide other communities with proven strategies to ensure the eradication of graffiti gangs. Activities such as “Adopt A Street Sign” and “Community Paint Out Days” are proven methods internationally that harness a community towards a zero tolerance of graffiti in their neighbourhood .
Mr Reece has also announced an annual graffiti clean up day which will be run in a similar way to the Clean-Up Australia Day.

“ I believe a national clean up day for graffiti will assist greatly in getting communities to take responsibility for their streets but it is just one of a number of strategies that must be employed to fully eradicate this type of vandalism”
