People in the Hills, Blacktown, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Mt Druitt, Penrith and Manly reported the biggest increases in graffiti.
Fairfield and the City were the only places in Sydney where readers thought the amount of graffiti in their suburb had remained stable or declined.
Most people from the Central Coast, Inner West and South Sydney said the amount of graffiti in their area had remained stable.
The State Government has introduced tough laws to try and reduce the graffiti sweeping Sydney suburbs.
People found carrying pens, paint or spray cans face an $1100 fine or three months jail.
Those caught vandalising public property can be hit with a $2200 fine, six months jail or community service.
Police can also issue on-the-spot fines to retailers who sell spray paint to people under the age of 18.
Premier Nathan Rees said he will force young graffiti vandals to make amends for the damage they cause.
“It is time they got the message - if you make a mess you have to clean it up,” he said.
“If the young offender does not comply with these directives then they will face the full force of the law and may spend time in juvenile detention.”
