Two teenagers have allegedly been caught defacing a war memorial on the NSW south coast

Police were called to the Dapto railway station about 3.30pm (AEST) on Tuesday following reports had allegedly damaged a war memorial.Graffiti tags were sprayed on the structure and officers also noticed damage done to the railway toilets.Two males, aged 18 and 13, who were located in the area by police allegedly had spray paint cans in their possession.

The older male was charged with a number of offences including damage to a memorial building or dedicated area, two counts of malicious damage, possessing an item intended to be used for damaging property and fare evasion.He was granted conditional bail and is expected to appear at Wollongong Local Court on 22 July.The 13-year-old was dealt with via the Young Offenders Act and will face a youth conference regarding the same offences.
