Teens arrested over graffiti — Sutherland

Sutherland Police have arrested a teenager following the discovery yesterday of graffiti on sound barriers between Sutherland and Kirrawee rail stations.

Shortly before 5pm yesterday police were informed by a witness that they had seen someone allegedly spray painting graffiti. Police attended a short time later and were provided with a detailed description.

Officers detained two youths nearby and located several spray cans in a nearby car. The cans were seized by police.   A 17-year-old youth was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station where further inquiries were conducted but the youth was later released.

About 11.30pm the boy returned to the police station with his mother and admitted spraying the graffiti.   The 17-year-old Kirrawee youth will now be dealt with by way of youth caution for the offences of malicious damage, possessing spray paint can and entering railway lands.
